Feisty firecracker Hagar Shipley (Ellen Bursten) has lived an unconventional life. Her passionate heart has always ruled her head and her choices have put her at odds with family and friends. With her life nearly behind her, she sets out in search of a way to reconcile herself to her turbulent past. Afraid of being moved to a retirement home, she runs away to an old family holiday retreat. Now a dilapidated old house by the ocean, it is there she meets Leo, a young man hiding from a different past, who accidentally forces her to face the one big secret she must take to her grave. Her thoughts evoke not only the rich pattern of her past, but also the meaning of what it is to grow old and to come to terms with mortality.
