Stuck in a rut of haircuts, hot dogs, and horse books, a small time barber lives every day like a warmed-over version of the last. Hit with the unexpected death of his long time partner and last apparent friend, he faces losing the only thing in life he's got left - his barbershop. In order to keep it, he is forced to hire the last person on earth he would ever imagine working there, a spitfire young girl who suddenly finds herself unable to take no for an answer. This is the humorous, sweet story of two unlikely people offered a second chance in one unlikely place - The Village Barbershop.

I attended the screening of The Village Barbershop after hearing great things about it from people who saw it at the Cinequest Film Festival. Along with having a great script that immediately touched me and a great dramatic performance by John Ratzenberger, the performance by the captivating and provocative (and yes, incredibly stunning) Shelly Cole is what made the movie stick with me even more. Talk about a talent that needs to get more roles, Shelly is completely genuine in the film and perfectly balances the dynamics of her character with attitude and emotional depth. I know that the film will resonate with me for a long time, and I can’t wait to see what director Chris Ford and the Village Barbershop team does next. I vote big time for the film, and I also suggest a special “Shelly Cole Is A Goddess” award in honor of my new favorite actress, and for Shelly….....well, being a goddess, of course.
