In a hilarious, violent and sometimes tragic look at family
dynamics, this unique coming of age story explores first love,
last love and the dangers of the American dream. The film
revolves around an awkward, sensitive 15-year-old boy, Scott
Bartlett, whose family life is turned upside-down after an
outbreak of Lyme disease hits the community. While Scott is
able to find solace in his neighbor and idolized older brother,
the rest of the community is falling apart. However, after his
brother is shipped off to war, Scott discovers the pedestal he’s
built for his idols can barely support the weight of his own
youthful innocence, let alone those he places on top.

Startling performances, searing dialogue and an archaeologist's sense of late '70s period detail power the violently funny "Lymelife." Intense perfs by Rory Culkin and Alec Baldwin are standouts in a movie that brims with vivid supporting turns. --Variety's Bob Nelson.
